We first anchored in Cooks Bay entrance on Moorea. It was heaven after the marina – calm, clean and quiet. Water Sprite was already there so we met them for sundowners at the onshore restaurant that turned into dinner. We next headed off to the next bay where some other WARC boats had reported lovely conditions and good snorkelling. It was so nice to be able to get off the boat and snorkel right there in fabulously clear water with lots of coral and fish. We did discover that the hydraulics on the tender lift platform were leaking. Peter and Kurt pulled it all apart and found a compromised seal. We think we can get the part and have it fitted in Fiji. Until then we just top up the leaked out amount each use. Brian and Lyn came in on Ariel for a couple of days, so we had quite the Aussie corner going on.

Quite glad to be finally seeing some colourful coral. The water is so clear you really can’t even see it!

We parted company with both Watersprite and Aerial here. Who knows when we will next meet up?

Kurt and a Tiki. A local artist made these and put them in the water as a symbol of when the missionaries arrived and made them throw out all their old Gods. However, they are now very happy with Christianity and are quite church going as a nation.

Bora Bora was a quick overnight trip arriving in a really nice mooring field just off the Bora Bora Yacht Club. They had great food and it was a good catching up place for all the WARC people who have been all over the French Polynesian Islands for the past 5 weeks. We had a far too short 3 days here. It was a pity we got stuck in the marina in Tahiti for so long - these two islands would have been lovely to stay at longer, and there are another two we didn’t get to at all. But that’s boats for you……

Kirsten and Kurt walked to the old American war base. Definitely South Pacific was based on this island.
